Funeral will be Held at the United

Presbyterian Church Tomorrow.

William Lyle Service died this morning at 9 o’clock at the home of his daughter Mrs. W. P. Latimer at 534 Ash street. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 3 o’clock from the U. P. church, Rev. J. T. McKitrick having charge of the service. Mr. Service leaves seven children, Mesdames W. P. Latimer, Anna DeTar, Mary Reir, and Zelma Burney, and John and James Service all of Ottawa and vicinity and R. W. Service of Eureka. Burial will be in Hope cemetery.

Mr. Service was 81 years of age. He was born in South Carolina and after residing in Indiana for a number of years came to Kansas in 1857. He located at Berea, a little town east of where Richmond now is, where he pre-empted a quarter section of land. August 30, 1862 he enlisted in Co. D, 12th Kansas Infantry. After a few months he was promoted to the position of wagon master. He was discharged June 30, 1865. That year he removed to Ottawa. He was engaged in the diary business for a number of years and later conducted a grocery. For several years past he had been retired from active life. He was a member of the United Presbyterian church, and of George H. Thomas post.
