  William Short died of apoplexy at the home of Simeon Hudson in Center township, last Tuesday.  Mr. Short was one of Wilson county’s good men and best citizens.  He was an Indiana soldier during the Rebellion and was was severely wounded at Chickamauga, Georgia, Sept. 19, 1863.  He laid on the field thirteen days while wounded and remained a cripple all his life from the effect of this wound.  The bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community.  The funeral services were held at the home, and the remains were laid to rest in the Fredonia cemetery last Wednesday.
