W. H. Sparrow, aged 82 years died at his home, 1527 Corning at noon today as a result of gangreen infection resulting from blood poison. He is survived by his daughter Mrs. T. L. Trotter and son, Harry Sparrow both of Parsons. The funeral will be held from the family home at 9:45 Sunday morning, conducted by Sam. I. Smith. Burial will be made in Oakwood cemetery.
Mr. Sparrow, a pioneer citizen and Civil war veteran was born Feb. 24, 1839. He came to Parsons Feb. 1, 1879 from Bourbon, Ind., and has always been a respected citizen. Mr. Sparrow was a member of the Antietam post of the local G. A. R. having served in the northern army for five years in the 12th Indiana infantry, receiving the rank of lieutenant just before the close of the war.
