Obituary of MARY MARGARET LISLE HALLIDAY

Halliday - At her home in Coldwater, Kansas, on Saturday, May 18, 1901, Mrs. Mary Margaret Halliday, wife of Dr. J. S. Halliday, aged 52 years,
11 months and 4 days.

A feeling of profound sadness came over the entire community when, about noon last Saturday, it was announced that Mrs. Halliday had breathed her last. Her death, however, was not unexpected as she had been in quite poor health for a year or more. For several weeks previous to her death she had been very feeble. A cancerous affection was supposed to be the cause of her death.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday. Rev. W. L. Roberts, of the Presbyterian church, had charge of the services. He was assisted by Rev. J. C. Fisher, of the M. E. church. The services were very impressive, and were attended by a large number of people, friends of the deceased, who came from all parts of the county. Burial took place in the Coldwater cemetery.

Mary Margaret Lisle, the daughter of Robt. E. and Belinda Lisle, was born on June 14, 1848. She was married to John Stanley Halliday at Downington, Meigs co., Ohio, on August 7, 1870. Dr. Halliday came to
Comanche co. in 1884, and in May of the following year Mrs. Halliday also came. They had since continuously made this city their home.

The deceased was in every sense a noble woman - kind to all and much devoted to her family and to her home. She was a member of the Eastern Star, and the beautiful burial services of that order were used at the cemtery.

Mrs. Halliday is survived by the husband and by all of the three children born to the union - Edward Meigs, Cora Zipporah (Mrs. I. B. Kirkland) and Evah Lisle (Mrs. F. A. Kimple), all of whom were present at the funeral.
