UDALL  posted Saturday, January 24, 2004
As a child I was brought up in the knowledge that there was a city in Kansas, called Udall, and that it was named after an ancestor of mine who was a Biologist, who went to live in America. Despite surfing the net, and contacting the Museum at Udall, I have got no nearer to the facts. Despite Udall city website saying that the city was named after Cornelius Udall an English author, I can not trace a Cornelius Udall, and the Museum then suggested it may be Nicholas Udall who wrote the first English comedy. I have much information on Nicholas Udall, who was born in 1505 in Southampton. If Udall was named after him, then I assume that J.M.Napier or P.W.Smith who founded Udall must have been English, or that their descendants may know more of the history about Udall. Any help at all would be appreciated.
