I am researching the family of Lewis Bradley Foust Born July 7,1907 in Atlanta, Ks. He was the son of John Anthony Foust/ Charlotte lee Fussell Foust. Moved from Ks to Pawnee Co.Okla.John / Charlotte is buried in the old City cemetery at Ralston,Okla.
Their family's was from Cowley Co.Ks.I am looking for any information regarding the name of John A.Foust's father. All we know of him is that he was from Tenn Knox or Anderson County's. He had four children three son's and a daughter. Was supposed to have died around the age of 27 years. I would like to contact other members of John A family.

Families left Indiana date unknown, and by age twenty, Hannah was married to Richard COURTRIGHT, place and date of marriage unknown(abt 1866). 1870, family is in Cedar Vale, Chatauqua Co, KS, and 1880 Cowley Co, KS. When OK opened up, moved to Payne Co, OK. Children born in KS. Richard and Hannah die Payne Co, OK. I have a picture of Hannah with brother Samuel with Samuel's twin children. Evidently the Slaters also moved to OK, but at this time, I have no knowledge of them.

Would like to contact descendants of these families and collaborate research.--MUCH MORE FUN!!

Looking for information on John Andrew MAUS . Moved to Winfield,Kansas,Cowley County in 1878 from Pennsylvania. Died at Winfield in 1913 and buried at Union Cemetery. Wife: Sara Jane Christ. Daughter Helen married George L. ABBOT and was living in Winfield in 1914. John was a Col. in the Union Army from PA during the Cicil War.

My great grandfather was Frank Siegel (Sig) Iddings, he was a member of the Kansas House of Representatives in 1919-1921. He died on April 11, 1948 in Udall, Cowley County, Kansas. He was married to Mary E. Debord who I have no information on except that she was born in Maitland, Mo. She died in Udall,Cowley County, Kansas. They had a daughter named Lillian Mary Iddings, born July 20, 1885 in Udall, Cowley County, Kansas. She married Franklin Harold Latham on March 22, 1904 in Udall, Cowley County, Kansas.They were my grandparents. I would like to find out more about them in Cowley County if possible. Any help would be appreciated. I have information on Iddings and Latham that I would like to share with someone. Also had Frame family in Crawford County.Any help would be appreciated.

She retired about 1942 spending at least twenty five years in the teaching field of English Literature. I need information on her or where to write for her birth or death certificate. Additional Info:
William John Youle owned a grocery store on the main street in Winfield. He had at least one sibling named John. He had sold the store in 1915 when the family moved to Corning CA.
Isaac Moffitt was the preacher and possibble founder of the Winfield Church of Christ.
Mildred Moffitt was batized by Isaac Moffitt in 1913/1914.
This is all the info that I have so far. If you could help fill in some gaps or find anything else that may be of importance please let me know.
I have only recently started doing this research so I am learning as I go. If there are any records that are able to be copied can you also inform me of this and I will figure out if it will be in my best interests to make a trip out there.
I currently reside in Southern California, near Pasadena and if there is anything I may be able to help you on please let me know.

Seek any and all information on Timothy McIntire b.1819, Wilton, NH, d. 1910, Arkansas City, KS. (Cowley County) He came to Kansas via the Emigrant Aid Company of Mass, in Nov. 1854. Was part of the original Topeka (Breckenridge, Shawnee County) town association. Moved to Emporia (Lyon County) in 1858 then to Arkansas City in 1872. Was Editor of his youngest son's (Albert Timothy) news paper, the Arkansas Valley Democrat, from 1881 to 1897, was police judge, served one term in the Kansas House of Representatives in 1872, was doorman at the Kansas Constitutional Convention in 1858? Married Catherine Jane Hill of Claremont, NH in 1841, had 3 sons George Henry, Charles Martin, Albert Timothy, and one daughter Betsy Jane. Died at Topeka State Hospital Nov 10, 1910.

Seek any and all information on GEORGE HENRY MCINTIRE b. 1844, Wilton, NH, d. 1921, Arkansas City, KS. (Cowley County) He came to Kansas with his parents, Timothy and Catherine Jane McIntire via the Emigrant Aid Company of Mass, in Nov. 1854, and settled in what is now Topeka, KS. (Brekenridge, Shawnee County). He moved with is parents to Emporia (Lyon County) in 1858 where he lived on a farm south and east of Emporia. He ran the farm with his father and bought land in the area before 1872. In 1872, he moved to Arkansas City with his family and in 1884 became Cowley County Sherrif in Winfield KS (Cowley County). Through the years, he served as policeman, police judge, and Justice of the Peace in Arkansas City. He Married Mary Rozella Champlin in Emporia, KS about 1856. He had one son, George Albert McIntire, and several sisters. He died in Arkansas City in 1921. He had two brothers, Albert Timothy and Charles Martin McIntire, and one sister Betsy Jane Osgood.

Seek any and all information on CHARLES MARTIN MCINTIRE b. 1852, Dixfield, ME, d.19??, Arkansas City, KS. (Cowley County) He came to Kansas with his parents, Timothy and Catherine Jane McIntire via the Emigrant Aid Company of Mass, in Nov. 1854, and settled in what is now Topeka, KS. (Brekenridge, Shawnee County). He moved with is parents to Emporia (Lyon County) in 1858 where he lived on a farm south and east of Emporia. In 1872, he moved to Arkansas City where he grew up. He worked for the Arkansas City Traveler (newspaper) and started a number of ventures in the newspaper trade. In 1879 he purchased the Arkansas Valley Democrat an 8 page weekly newspaper in Arkansas City, and in 1881 hired his father, Timothy, to be the editor. He sold the news paper in 1897. Over the years, he either established or tried to establish newspapers in Ark City (Cowley county), Cedar Vale, KS (Chatauqua County) and in various places in Cowley County. He later worked for the city of Arkansas City and started a number of other business ventures. He and some business partners floated a boat down the Arkansas River with an eye toward establishing comercial trade on the river. He married Laura May Gregg in Arkansas, KS He died in Arkansas City in 192?. He had two brothers, Albert Timothy and George Henry McIntire, the local constabulary at the time, and one sister Betsy Jane Osgood.

I am looking for information on Daniel Wardlow family. 1880 census shows them living in Cowley Co. Kansas. He married Hannah Graham 1861 in Mo. She died in 1883 possibly while living in Kansas. He may have remarried while in Kansas. He was a member of the GAR and died in 1898 either in Kansas or Missouri. I would be interested if a membership roster of the GAR exists or records of Daniel or Hannah's burial.

Looking for information on claims made by Francis Dougherty and Mark Melt in about 1879. The claims were at the head of the N. Solomon River. They had built a house in Kirwin in 1879 but, by 1881 they had sold out and moved onto their claims hauling lumber 60 miles to build homes. They went back to Topeka about the latter part of 1882 because they had a son in Feb. 1882 in Topeka. Thier crops on the claims failed due to bugs and drouth. I am looking for information on the RUGGLES of Cowley County. My Grandfather was James Walter Ruggles and he m Grace Genetta Brooks (her parents, Thomas Jasper Brooks and Rebecca Jane Miller came from Fayetteville, Arkansas). My Great Grandfather is James Elza Ruggles (he was born in Lewis County, Kentucky) and he m Edith Genevia Bowser (not sure). My Great Great Grandfather was James Elbert Ruggles (he was born in Lewis County, Kentucky) and he m Eliza Mary Everett (somewhere in Kentucky). My GGG Grandfather was Silas Anderson Ruggles (he was born in Lewis County, Kentucky) and he m Matilda Roberts (not sure). Each of these men are buried in the Rose Valley Cemetery in Cowley County, Kansas. If someone knows anything about these families I am willing to share my info as well. Thanks in advance! Steve

Peter and Elizabeth (SMALE) SPANGLER settled in Auburn Twp, Shawnee Co, KS in April 1857. They had five children: Charles N. (b. 1852 in OH) Alice R. (b. abt 1856 in IN) Ida J. (b. abt 1858 in KS) Olive J. (b. abt 1862 in KS; twin) Arland (b. abt 1862 in KS; twin) Peter (b. 1828 in OH) died in Shawnee Co, KS in 1868. His widow, Elizabeth (b. abt 1831 in NY), married a neighbor, John B. COOK on 28 Mar 1869 in Shawnee Co, KS. John B. and Elizabeth COOK had twin sons on 27 Dec 1869, Edgar B. and Edwin. John B. and Elizabeth moved to Cowley Co, KS in the 1890's and later divorced (not documented). Elizabeth died about 1907 and was buried in Auburn Cemetery with Peter. I seek to exchange information on descendants and ancestors of Elizabeth.

LINSCOTT, LAUTER, FULLER -- Big mystery. My gr grandmother Liva A. LINSCOTT (daughter of Francis Marion LINSCOTT and Nancy WILLIAMSON) lived in Winfield during much of her childhood, but after her mother's death in 1878, there is a mysterious and critical dark period during which she was boarded in Benton Co., AR with a DUCKWORTH family (1880), married and was widowed twice (first, William P. LAUTER, then, George A. FULLER) then died herself in 1992 (in TX) leaving my grandmother Bertha Willie LAUTER (b. 1887) and her brother Charles FULLER (b. 1890) orphaned in TX. The children were supposedly born in Indian Territory, but a lease was recently discovered showing that Liva and George FULLER were leasing the LINSCOTT farm in Winfield from 1889 to 1890, raising a question about Charles' birthplace. Absolutely nothing is known about why Liva boarded in AR at age 14, what relationshyip the KS LINSCOTTS had with the AR DUCKWORTHS, what happened or where she was during the next 7 years, nothing about either of Liva's husbands, where she met them, where they were married (KS? AR? OK?), why they spent time in OK/IT. Did Bertha's father Wm. LAUTER die in KS, AR or OK -- and where was Bertha actually born? Was little Charles born in KS or OK/IT? When Liva's daughter --*Bertha LAUTER was a young child, she and Charles were brought back to Winfield by their grandfather Francis Marion LINSCOTT. Then, when Bertha was a young teen, she was fostered to the GILBERT family of Winfield, and lived with them until her marriage. The GILBERT family lived near the LINSCOTT family at one time, and we assume that is how they knew one another. Did they also know one or both of Liva's husbands? Mary FEHGLEY -- or some variation of that spelling -- was my grandmother Bertha LAUTER's best friend when she was a teenager in Winfield, KS from about 1895. They were very close, stayed in touch throughout their young adult and middle age years, and the only time I ever saw my grandmother cry was the day, sometime just after WW II, when she received news that Mary had died. Very little is known about grandmother Bertha LAUTER's childhood and early life, and I have wondered if any of Mary's descendents might have letters or memorabilia that would shed some light on Bertha's life through her relationship with Mary. Mary Feghley did marry, and we think she remained in Winfield, but we do not know her spouse or know for certain where she lived as an adult. Does anyone know these people?
