SHRY, GRAY, BOWLES
Karen
Brown We are looking for the father of my husband's
father. My husbands's father was born August 22, 1900, in KS. He was born
as Amos E. Shry. His mother's name was Mary Edna Gray. She was born July
19,1882 in Oswatomie, KS. Her mother's name was Mary Flora Greenman. Her
father, Steven Gray, died in Nov. of 1882. Her mother then married a Bowles
and moved to Dickenson county of KS. The problem is that Amos Shry changed
his name to Jack Earl and never told his wife or kids anything about it.
We found out that he is listed in the census of 1920 as Amos Shry, and
in the school records of 1916 as Amos Shry. Amos's mother took him as a
baby to ND and married a Haman. If anyone knows about any Shry having been
around KS in that time and maybe knowing the Grays please email me. We
are really trying hard to find out all the info we can and don't know where
else to look. Thanks so much for all your time and trouble.

with his wife, Margaret, and seven children, Lavinia, Ann Margaret, Elizabeth,
David, James, Jesse, and Mary arrived in Dickinson County,
Kansas in the summer or fall of 1878. Another child,
John, was added to the family in late
1878. In 1879, George purchased
160 acres in Willowdale Twp, which in 1883 he sold and purchased eighty
acres in the Newbern Twp. Later that year, he purchased an additional acrage
in the same Township. Both deeds show that he either sold or deeded acres
to the school district 40, Chase, and to school district 44, Knox in the
Newbern Township. Family oral tradition through letters written to
his daughters, that he was a school teacher. In the 1880 census,
his occupation was listed as a farmer. I am looking for information

Baumgarth, Hartman
Robert
Oakley Paxson I was born in Abilene 10/11/21 and lived there until
about 1928/1929, then moving to Wichita. My grandparents were Christian
and Lavina Baumgarth and they are buried in the Abilene cemetary.
He died 9/2/45 and she died 3/28/53. She, Lavina, was the second daughter
of the couple listed under "subject", Christ and Agnes Hartman.
Christ and Agnes were my great grandparents and I met them once when I
was 5/6 years old. Christ (and as far as I know, that is his correct name.
Not the same as my grandfather whose name was truly Christian) and Agnes
were both born in Switzerland according to the 1880 census. That census
showed them in Jefferson Township of Dickinson County) but I have not been
able to determine when or where they died so I could write for a death
certificate to get additional information such as who their parents were.
Christ was born in May, 1843 and Agnes, July 1847 so I can only estimate
their death dates as in the late twenties or early thirties. But that's
strictly a guess. FYI, the pronounciation of his name was Krist. I know
this is long but I wanted to give any help I could so I could be helped.

BREDLOW & SEIDEL

SEIDEL Fri Mar 28 18:44:32 1997 We are looking for information
about a Bredlow family which moved to Solomon in 1883. A Henrietta
Bredlow married William
Seidel in June, 1886. Both were listed
from Solomon City. The marriage was done in the probate court in Salina.
Could they have lived in Dickenson county and still have been married at
Salina? Is it possible that a part of Solomon City is or was in Saline
county?
