It stated that he died on February 9, 1990 in Council Grove, Morris County, Kansas. Knowing that my Grandfather, Guy Harvey MALLORY, b: June 19, 1881, and siblings, Laroy (murdered in a store robbery; he owned the store, date unknown), Guy Harvey, Marsha, Sara (Sarah), Perry, b: July 5, 1896, and Sam, b: November 6, 1898, were born and raised in Kansas. I have just found out that Perry died in Council Grove and was hoping that someone would have known the MALLORY's. Their mother was Olive EFFINGTON, and the father's name is (unknown), MALLORY. REES...CARSON Marla Edwards (bedwards@cgtelco.net) 23 June 1999 I am looking for any information on Thomas and Lavina REES, they are buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Council Grove, Morris Co., KS. Thomas' tombstone states 'Co. G 36 Ohio Infantry', no dates. Lavina, b: September 23, 1848, d: July 16, 1921. Known children include: David W., James M., Howard B., Annie Bell, Charles E., Possibly an Isaac and Minnie. Minnie might have married a STEVENSON, but can find no trace. Charles was married to a Mary J., and possibly lived in the Osage City area. Annie Bell, b: August 9, 1886, d: January 1980, married Robert CARSON, lived in the Council Grove - White City area of Kansas. Annie was my Great-Great-Grandmother. Any info would be a great help. BRADLEY Martin Bradley (martbradley@btinternet.com) 9 May 1999 I am researching the name BRADLEY, specifically John T. BRADLEY, my Great-Grandfather. He was a lawyer who resided in Council Grove between abt. 1871 and 1892. I understand he was responsible for setting up the Council Grove Republican and was on the Kansas State Senate from 1876 to 1880. SPAR/SPAWR...KING Ann Stone (Stoneylane@aol.com) 4 May 1999 I am looking for information on my Great-Grandmother, Florence Aldora SPAR/SPAWR. I have a newspaper picture of her stating she was the teacher of the Loyal Woman's class of the First Christian Church of Morris County. She was also listed as a circle captain of the Ladies Aid Society. I know that she died 8 May 1939. I do not know her husband's name. she lived in Kansas City, MO., prior to coming to Morris County. Her name then was Florence Aldora KING (wife of Jefferson L. KING). She went by the name, Dora. Any help greatly appreciated. COURTNEY...HAUN David Hedgpeth (mldv@juno.com) 26 April 1999 Looking for connections to Stephen (AKA, Andrew Jackson) and Dianah COURTNEY, who appeared on the 1860 Missouri Census as living in the Post Oak Township, Johnson Co., MO. Their son, James L. COURTNEY, may have fought for the Union Army. About 1864, the family moved to Miami County, Kansas then later to Morris County, Kansas. Apparently, by the 1870 Census, they had changed their last name to HAUN. SPENCER Vance Bailey (vbailey@goodnet.com) 23 April 1999 SPENCER, Mahlon, born: 1803 in Pennsylvania, died: 14 July 1886 in Council Grove, Morris Co., Kansas. I know who his ancestors were, I'm trying to find his descendants. Mahlon lived in Jersey Co., Illinois in the 1860s, and apparently in Ohio in the 1840s. His mother and father were my 3rd Great-Grandparents. MOORE James Nethery (jneth3@home.com) 21 April 1999 Seeking info on Thomas H. MOORE and family. His wife was Ann Eliza. They had 2 children that I know of; Ralph, of Herington, KS and Lewis W., of Phoenix, AZ. Thomas died on 16 December 1927. He was the Sheriff of Morris County at one time. Married Effie May LEE on 24 April 1899, (moved to Kansas in 1903 by train). Effie May was born; 18 August 1870 in Iowa, died; 23 November 1914 in Council Grove, Kansas. Children were: Twins; #1) Beatrice Maude ROBERTS, b: 19 February 1900 in Nodaway, Iowa, d: 9 February 1973 in Wamego, Kansas, buried in Council Grove, Kansas. Never married. #2) Beulah Mabel ROBERTS, b: 19 February 1900 in Nodaway, Iowa, d: 9 or 17 April 1990, buried in White City, Kansas Cemetery, married Oscar VENBURG, 25 October 1923, he was born 20 April 1893, d: 28 April 1968, buried in White City, Kansas Cemetery. Their children; Kenneth Wayne VENBURG, Lloyd Charles VENBURG, Avis Ann VENBURG. Kenneth lives in Manhattan, Kansas. I am looking for Charles' gravesite, he is my Great-Great-Grandfather's son. I am also looking for my Great-Great-Grandfather who was last known to be in Nebraska City in 1860, but am unable to locate him now. In our local cemetery there is a stone for her that reads; "In Memory Caroline 1842-1878 Coursins Grove, Kansas". I've sent a lot of queries out and no one seems to know of this place and everyone suggests it might be , Council Grove, Morris Co., Kansas. Any help in finding her would be greatly appreciated. JEHL/TEHL Timothy Smith (tuck@access1.net) 24 March 1999 My ancestor's lived in Dwight, Morris County from the 1880s to the 1920s. My Great-Grandfather's name was Anselm (Anselme) JEHL/TEHL. His wife's name was Mary Rapp JEHL/TEHL, she died on April 28th, 1921 in Dwight and was buried in the local cemetery (may be listed under ILES on the cemetery list). Anselm died in 1922 in Dwight. I would like to locate the address to the farm they owned and a copy of the mortuary records on them. The undertaker was a Otto Wolgast, Alta Vista. Any help will be appreciated, I have a copy of Mary's death certificate if needed. BRATTON Becky Cockrum (showtime@centex.net) 8 January 1999 I am trying to find the ancestors of Carl BRATTON, his family came from the Morris County area. He would have been born around 1900. He is my Grandfather, married my Grandmother Holt in East Texas. I don't think that they were together very long since no one remembers him. They had one daughter, Gaynell, who is my Mother.
