ANNA MAE BYRD

Anna Mae Byrd, age 96, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 1999, in South Barry County Hospital, Cassville.

She was born November 23, 1902 in Newton, Kansas, the daughter of Frank and Sara Hickman Humiston.  On June 26, 1925 in Alva, Oklahoma, she was united in marriage to Earl S. Byrd, who preceded her in death December 27, 1980.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two infant sons:  Russell Lee and Raymond Frank Byrd;  one eighteen year old son:  Harlan Edwin Byrd, while serving his country;  three brothers:  Harold, Eddie and Howard "Hod" Humiston;  and three sisters:  Maxine Humiston, Fern Hull and Carrie Humiston.

Surviving relatives include a son:  Darrell Dean Byrd of Austin, Texas;  a daughter:  Phyllis Long of Washburn, Missouri;  a brother:  Frank Humiston of Inman, Kansas;  two grandchildren and six great granddaughters.

Mrs. Byrd was a resident of Hutchinson, Kansas for fifty years before moving to Mesa, Arizona, in June of 1961.  She remained in Mesa until 1978, when she moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico.  She came to Cassville from Albuquerque in October of 1997.  She had worked as a seamstress in the cleaning business.  She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, where she served in the church choir for thirty-five years.  She was a lifetime member of the U.P.W. Missionary Society.

Graveside services were held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 6, 1999, in Eastside Cemetery, Hutchinson , under direction of Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, Kansas.  Pastor Bud Gildehaus conducted the service.

Local arrangements were under direction of Fohn Funeral Home.
