Mrs. Sarah Campbell Dead

Had Celebrate Wedding Anniversary On Christmas Day.

Mrs. Campbell, wife of James Campbell, died at 2:30 o’clock this morning at their home 426 Tenth avenue west.  She had not been in the best of health for some time but had been seriously ill for only a day and a half.  The immediate cause of the death was heart failure.

Mrs. Campbell was born Sarah H. McDonald February 23, 1831, being close to 79 years of age at the time of her death.  She was born in Hampshire county Virginia and on October 31, 1851 was married to James N. Campbell.  They moved to Illinois in 1858 and came to Reno county, Kansas, in 1878, thirty-one years ago, settling in Salt Creek township, seven miles west of Hutchinson.

Fifteen years ago they came to Hutchinson and have lived at the home on Tenth west ever since.  Mrs. Campbell had been a faithful Christian for more than fifty years, being a member of the United Brethren church.

Just last Saturday, Christmas day, Mr. and Mrs. Campbell celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.  There were gathered at their home, the four living sons, twenty grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  The four sons are J. H, J. C., J. L. and Will, all of whom live in or near Hutchinson.

The funeral services will be held at 2:30 o’clock Sunday afternoon from the United Brethren Church, Rev. W. E. Spencer having charge.  Funeral will be in Eastside Cemetery.
