Farmer Killed in Truck Accident

Lawrence Tibbetts, prominent farmer in southwest Reno county was killed early Wednesday morning when he was crushed between two truck while being a good Samaritan and attempting to help get a truck driven by Lawrence Cassidy out of a ditch two miles south of Turon.  Cassidy employed on the farm of Don Shaffer, Hutchinson, attorney, slid off the highway into a ditch.  He walked into Turon where he met Tibbetts and J. Barnet. Ttibbetts and Barnett offered to help pull the truck out of the ditch with his truck. 

While in the act of tying a tow rope to the Cassidy truck a car coming from the south and driven by Francis Millington of Turon confused by the lights crashed into the side of the Tibbetts truck crushing Tibbetss between the two trucks.  Cassidy escaped with slight injury as did Millington and Laughlin who was in the Millington car.  The Millington car was badly damaged.  Mrs. Tibbetts was waiting for Mr. Tibbetts in a restaurant at Turon when the accident happened.

Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon from the Langdon Methodist church with burial in the Langdon cemetery.  Services were conducted by Rev. W. J. Van Cleve, Langdon Methodist pastor and Rev. P. H. Lent, former Langdon pastor.

Survivors are his widow, a daughter, Frankie Lou who lives in Texas; his father, L. C. Tibbetts of Hutchinson; two sisters, Mrs. Paul Aurell of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Darrell Dunn Arlington; and a brother, Ralph Tibbetts of Langdon.
