They had three sons: Cecil (age 6), Leslie F. (age 4) and Cyrus (age 1). They were not in the 1910 census and I am looking for any descendants who might know where they went or are related. Bryanna Olson I am looking for any relatives/decendents/info on ancestors of Thomas L. CROMWELL. He lived in Topeka. I believe that he died there also. Thomas was born in Pennsylvania in 1853 and lived in Brainard, Crow Wing county Minnesota where most of his children were born, prior to moving his family to Topeka, Kansas. Thomas and his wife Eliza WILKINSON had at least 8 children that survived childhood. There may have been 2 others as my grandmother said at one time that her father was one of 10. Children were: William,b. 1877; Nellie b. 1879; Thomas Bla.1882; Charles G. b. 1885; Robert W. b. 1887; twins= Harold and Winnifred b. 1890; and Worth b. 1895. Eliza was probably married before as there is a child named Daisy b. 1873 listed in the 1900 census as step daughter.

I have a copy of a receipt date Aug 9, 1913 from Cemetery, Topeka,Kan., for $2.50 for care - Lot 1913, signed by a W R Carrie, Superintendent. I did not know that Wm. L  Gillmore was in this area of KS, but apparently so. Any light anyone can shed on this is greatly appreciated. He has at least once son by the name of Clarence James Gillmore born 1968 who married Mollie Moss. I don't believe they lived in this area, but in Sebastion Co, AR.

County.They all lived in or near Topeka, KS. from 1870's onward.  Joseph L. Smith with his wife Mary ThompsonSmith came to Topeka with family from Guernsey Co. Ohio.  Their children: William J., Roy J., Rebecca P. and Jennie E. Smith. Elijah Truitt Matthewscame in the late 1860's with wife and family from Ozark, AL.  His son Caswell S. Matthews married Jennie E. Smith.  Caswell and Jennie's children:  Lester, Helen who married a Fitzgerald, and Cassie. Caswell also had two children by first wife Clara Hale, Karl who married Blanche Golden and Clara who married ?   Many family member buried in Prairie Home Cemetery.
Anyone with information about these families.....your help would be greatly appreciated.

Henry, his brother John, and the parents-in-law all moved to Kansas from Ohio in 1856. Welcome Wells served many years in Kansas state politics, at one time as Speaker of the House. Henry and Helen Wells Laffer had two sons; Charles Wells Laffer b: Sep 1858 and John Otis Laffer b: 7 Oct 1865 both in Manhattan, Riley County, Kansas.  Henry Laffer ran a ferry across the Blue River, freighted, ran a saw mill, prospected for gold,and ran a shoe store.  He financed the shoe store by selling his gold mine in Leadville. John Otis Laffer married May Whitney in Jewell, Jewell County, Kansas on 6 Oct 1887.  Their son Henry Wilson Laffer married Carrie Hughes in

Verne Garrison Isaac GARRISON b 1805 Bourbon County, Ky married Hepzidah Hendricks in 1825 moved to Franklin, IN in 1827..Sixteen Children all born in Indiana. Moved with some of children to Topeka (Shawnee County) in 1857. Was firs Treas. of Kansas State Board Agriculture in 1861. Died 1869 and wife in 1868 bur. at Old Richey Cemetery 29th and Boswell in Topeka as are two children Caroline and Hinckley. One of his daughters married a THOMPSON and also a PERRIN. To best of my knowledge the county has no death certificates for 1869 so anyone who can help me with an obituary or similar (funeral directors at the time) would be helpful. Cyrus was a co-founder of Topeka and founder of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad. James was a Methodist minister. He is in the 1860 census in Auburn Township, Shawnee Co., where he held a pastorate.

John Meredith Mon May 12 04:17:10 1997 Seeking information on the STAHL family in Shawnee County. Francis Marion (Frank) STAHL came to Kansas from Ohio in about 1857. His father, Michael, followed shortly thereafter. Frank and his family settled in Auburn, and many of the family are buried in the Auburn cemetery. Would appreciate any information on the burial place of Frank's parents (Michael and Susan STAHL)or on any of his children.

JULIE BATH Fri May 2 10:51:52 1997 1928-1930 Searching for two brothers who were either abandoned and/or orphaned in the southeastern area of Kansas year of 1928-1930. Edward Otis &;Buddy; ALLIS, (dob 11/25) was may given to a man by the name of FRED PERRYor was maybe left in the town of Perry, Jefferson County, Kansas. The second boy was Lawrence Robert ALLIS, (dob 2/1929) was left with a woman along the side of the road when the parents car broke down. They never came back for him, and may of ended up with a welfare worker by the name of BALES. Neither boy would probably remember there last name. The oldest boy may have been given away in exchange for a bad debt. He may also remember a sister by the name of BERTHA & BABE ALLIS or a younger brother.The parents lived in several areas of Kansas during this time period. They were Lawrence and Baldwin, Douglas county, Atichinson, Atichinson County, Ottawa, Franklin County and Topeka, Shawnee county. The fathers name was Lawrence ALLIS. The mothers name was Hazel (HYATT)ALLIS-PENNINGTON.She may have been with a man by the name if Ode Pennington when she still had the two little boys. If this sounds fimiliar to any one please contact me or if any one can tell me what orphanges may had existed in these areas during that time period.

Malcolm G Fergusson James Sutherland born 1864 Oyne Aberdeenshire Scotland went to USA with his brother Allan and sister Margaret 1889. settled in Topeka Kansas. moved to Lewis Kansas in spring 1903 married Sarah Corl December 24th 1891 three children Edith Allan and Esther Edith married Harry Fulkerson of Hoisington Kansas Allan married ? lived in Great Bend Kansas then in Wichita. Esther died young.Sarah died 1904. Family looked after by sister Annie Minerva Corl. (born September 10th 1866 Fremont Ohio) Annie married James Sutherland August 11th 1908 James was a Member of Odd Fellows Lodge and others. Both were members of The Christian Church. Carpenter to trade and a skilled one it seems by his obit. Died June 6th 1928 in Lewis. I believe Allan had a son Wayne (lived in Lewis) who has two children. They will be around forty to fifty years old now. (don't know their names except Sutherland obviously) Annie died May 27th 1954 in Hutchinson aged 87 Annie had a sister Estella Murphy of Burgoon Ohio James was well known as his death notice is headed "Prominent and Respected Citizen of Lewis for Over 20 Years Succombed to Long Illness"There must be some Fulkersons and Sutherlands still around Kansas I hope. Family tree in Scotland back to 1750 traced. James also had brothers Alexander, George, John, Henry and William and sisters Helen and Jeanie. Alexander, William and Jeanie can be accounted for. Where others went is still under research.any info appreciated.

Through the years, he served as policeman, police judge, and Justice of the Peace in Arkansas City. He Married Mary Rozella Champlin in Emporia, KS about 1856. He had one son, George Albert McIntire, and several sisters. He died in Arkansas City in 1921. He had two brothers, Albert Timothy and Charles Martin McIntire, and one sister Betsy Jane Osgood.

Over the years, he either established or tried to establish newspapers in Ark City (Cowley county), Cedar Vale, KS (Chitaqua County) and in various places in Cowley County. He later worked for the city of Arkansas City and started a number of other business ventures. He and some business partners floated a boat down the Arkansas River with an eye toward establishing comercial trade on the river. He married Laura May Gregg in Arkansas, KS He died in Arkansas City in 192?. He had two brothers, Albert Timothy and George Henry McIntire, the local constabulary at the time, and one sister Betsy Jane Osgood.
