Searching for information on stepchildren of George W. Payton who were living with him in Howard, Elk, KS at the time of the 1880 census. George W. Payton was 65, a butcher born in Ohio. His stepchildren were twins Martha and Mary Edwards (age 14) and Charles Edwards (age 11). Other Payton children in the home were Robert Payton age 14, Jacob Payton age 12 and Mary Payton age 10. I am particularly interested in George's previous wife Martha (Hoover)(Edwards) Payton who had obviously died by 1880 since George had remarried to a Barbarby Payton.
