Griffin purchased a farm in Section 27-24-17, overlooking the lower Owl Creek Valley and about a half mile west of the Allen County line. On 14 November 1890, a postoffice was established in the Griffin home and given the name of Griffin. It was listed as being both in Woodson and Allen Counties. The postoffice was discontinued and papers sent to Humboldt, effective 30 November 1901.
