Miller, a veteran of the Civil War, serving with the 1lth Indiana Cavalry, came to Woodson County in 1868. Miller and his wife, Elizabeth, homesteaded a farm of 80 acres along Cherry Creek in the west half of the northeast quarter of section 34-24-16 in Everett township. The homestead was called Miller's Grove, and on 29 June 1869, Abraham Miller was appointed postmaster of the postoffice he established in his home and was given the name of Miller's Grove. Here the mail was handled for settlers along that part of Cherry Creek until the office was discontinued on 02 June 1873, when the Millers decided to leave Woodson County. The papers were transferred to Everett.
