Smith in the northwest quarter of Section 25-24-14, in North township, a mile north and a half east of the Cope schoolhouse. This postoffice was given the name of Wortley and evidently had a small coverage as a postoffice, as the offices of Juse, Burt, Coloma and Finney were all nearby. The postoffice of Wortley was kept in the Smith home until it was discontinued 31 October 1894, and papers sent to the postoffice of Coloma. In November of 1894, after the postoffice of Wortley was closed, the following notice appeared in the Yates Center News: "The postmaster of Coloma requests us to say to those who have been getting their mail at Wortley that it would oblige him if they would communicate to him when they wished to receive their mail hereafter as the Wortley office has been discontinued."
