The Anderson County Historical Society

The Anderson County Historical Society was formed in 1968. They started a museum, first in the courthouse and then it moved into the old Farrow Building on the square. When the Longfellow School, where the museum is now housed was closed it was given to the Historical Society for a museum.

The museum is located at the corner of Highway 59 and 6the Avenue in Garnett. Our address is: Anderson County Historical Museum, P.O. Box 183, 410 W. 6th St., Garnett, KS, 66093.

We are open May 1st to September 30 Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturdays 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Closed October 1st to April 30th. Our phone number is 785-448-5740, but only answered when the museum is open. We also open the museum by appointment so call during opening hours or use our e-mail. Our e-mail address is: information@historyandersoncoks.org. Email is an excellent way to contact us since all board of directors check that address. We also have a website and the link to the site is:
