THE LETTERS OF JOHN D. MOLER,
EARLY ANDERSON COUNTY SETTLER

John Moler moved his family to Anderson county, Kansas Territory in May 1860 and settled in Reeder township, where he established a large and prosperous farm. John's brothers Henry and Dan and sisters Nelia and Sarah also eventually settled in Anderson county with their families. Most of the letters appear to have been written to their sister Hannah (Moler) Anderson, who remained back East, possibly in Maryland. These letters give great insight into life in Anderson county in the early days, when there were not many settlers and family was often very far away, with all its many happinesses and its many many sorrows.

Marysue Eulitz is graciously transcribing and making these letters available to all Anderson county researchers. All spelling and punctuation is left as is in the original.
