"Betty J. Hartman 1924-2006 Funeral services for Betty J. Hartman, 82, Moran, were Tuesday, October 17, 2006, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Services in Moran with Retta Smith officiating. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery, Centerville. Mrs. Hartman died Friday, October 13, at Chanute Health Care, Chanute, KS. Betty J. Hartman was born May 11, 1924, at Parker, the daughter of Harry and Blanche (Childs) Higginbottom. She graduated from Parker High School and then taught school in the Centerville area before starting her family. She was married to Phillip 'Mac' Bohnert until his death. She married Kenneth Hartman on November 25, 1966. She enjoyed fishing, sewing, and cake decorating, but her family was her greatest joy. Mrs. Hartman was preceded in death by her first husband; her brother, Paul Higginbottom; her daughter, Phyllis Jean Eravl; and twin granddaughters, Sonya and Tonya Ash. Betty is survived by her husband, Kenneth Hartman of Moran; her sons, Charles Bohnert and his wife Joyce of Fenton, MO, Gene Hartman and his wife Kristi of LaHarpe, and Dale Hartman and his wife Shirley of Moran; her daughters, Nina Thompson and her husband Bryan of Pomona, Rose Covey and her husband Gene of Moran, and Sally Powelson and her husband Steve of Moran, 28 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Musical selections included 'The Old Rugged Cross', 'Heavenly Sunshine', and 'Sweet Hour of Prayer'. McCall, 87, Moran, were Saturday, October 14, 2006, at Moran United Methodist Church with Pastor Steve Paul officiating. Interment was in Moran Cemetery. Mr. McCall died Thursday, October 12, at Moran Manor. Wayne G. McCall was born September 26, 1919, at Ellsworth, the son of Roy Albert and Edith (Beebe) McCall. He grew up in the Ellsworth area, graduating high school at Carneiro, KS. Wayne and Thelma Brady were married on June 7, 1937, at Kansas City, KS. This union was blessed with three children. He later moved to California and worked in the gold mines and logging industry. He returned to the Ellsworth area where he built homes. The family moved to the farm at Moran in 1954 from Ellsworth. Wayne was a farmer and a stockman. He was a member of the Moran United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge #245 of Moran, and 32nd Degree Scottish Rites in Fort Scott. Mr. McCall was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Edith McCall; five brothers, Arleigh McCall, Hayes McCall, Billy McCall, Earl McCall, and Eldon McCall; and two sisters, Faye Basye and Laura May McKinnon. Wayne is survived by his wife of 69 years, Thelma McCall of the home; his sons, Randy McCall and his wife Audrey, and Dan McCall and his wife Donna, all of Moran; his daughter, Burma June Gonzales and her husband Ray of Bronson; seven grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. May Jean Adams was born December 31, 1922, at Garnett, the daughter of Homer Curtis and Ruby Visalia (Wilson) Kent. Mary Jean was a homemaker, but also had worked beside her husband as a bookkeeper and part owner of Adams Oil and Tire Company in Bolivar for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Bolivar and was a member of the Citizens Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, donating much of her time there. Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her husband, Jay J. Adams, in 1985; her parents, Homer and Ruby Kent; two brothers and two sisters. "William 'Jack' Cromwell, Sr. 1910-2006 Graveside services for William 'Jack' Cromwell, Sr. 96, Ottawa, were Monday, October 16, 2006, at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Williamsburg. Mr. Cromwell died Thursday, October 12, at Olathe Medical Center. William 'Jack' Cromwell, Sr., was born July 25, 1910, at Williamsburg, the son of William Oliver and Annie (Morris) Cromwell. He grew up in Franklin County and attended school in Williamsburg. As an adult, he lived in Osage and Franklin Counties, moving into Ottawa in the mid to late 1960's. He was a lifelong farmer and long time caretaker of Mt. Hope Cemetery in Williamsburg. Jack and Elsie May Arnett were married on November 7, 1933, at Garnett. She preceded him in death on October 27, 1998. Mr. Cromwell was also preceded in death by his son, William M. Cromwell, Jr.; his parents, William and Annie Cromwell; his brothers, Leo Cromwell and Perry Cromwell; and his sisters, Minnie Kime, Myrtle Johnson, and Effie Gault. Jack is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Lois Cromwell of Weatherford, TX, Richard W. and Melanie Cromwell of Lawrence, Jerry L. and Joyce Cromwell of Lawrence, and Roger D. and Patty Cromwell of Ottawa; his grandchildren, Christa Hoesch, Mike Cromwell, Lorrain Cromwell, Brandon Cromwell, Travis Cromwell, Kim Norris, Angie Gettler, Jackie Ellington, and Greg Dujmovic; and 11 great-grandchildren. Gwin 1937-2006 Funeral services for Charles L. Gwin, 69, Garnett, were Wednesday, October 18, 2006, at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Gary Benjamin and Pastor Raymond Watkins officiating. Interment was in Garnett Cemetery. Mr. Gwin died Sunday morning, October 15, at his home. Charles L. Gwin was born January 22, 1937, at Garnett, the son of Raymond and Effie (Hiner) Gwin. He graduated from Garnett High School with the Class of 1955 and served in the Kansas National Guard. Charlie worked for J.C. Penney Company from 1956 to 1972, starting in Garnett, then in Holton for two years, then nine years in Fairbury, NE. While in Fairbury, he was active in Jaycees, receiving the Spark Plug award for outstanding first year membership. He later received the Outstanding Jaycee Award and served as president. He then worked in Council Bluffs, IA, for three years before purchasing the Family Shoe Store in Garnett in 1972, which they owned for 25 years. Charlie worked various other jobs in addition to the shoe store, working for AFG Glass Company, Wolf Creek power plant, Beachner Construction, and worked on the construction of the Anderson County Junior Senior High School. He also worked for JEM LP Gas Company and Lybarger Oil Company. He was a Garnett reserve duty police officer for over 20 years and was currently working at Kids Creations in Garnett. He also worked in insurance and real estate and was currently working for Prairie Spirit Realty in Garnett. He served as president of the Mid-East Board of Realtors. He also served as president of the Garnett Rotary Club and the Lakeview Homeowners Association, and was currently vice president of the Garnett Kart Club. He enjoyed trap-shooting with the Garnett Gun Club and working with the youth Claykillers. Charlie and Kay Johnson were married August 25, 1957, at Bush City. This union was blessed with three children. She survives, of their home. Mr. Gwin was preceded in death by his son, Gary Lee Gwin (February 17, 1961-January 28, 1963); his parents, Raymond and Effie Gwin; and his mother-in-law, Wilda Johnson. Charlie is also survived by his son, Greg Gwin and his wife Stacy of Garnett; his daughter, Brenda Leinweber and her husband John of Garnett; his brother, H. Floyd Gwin and his wife Zella of Salina; his sister, Shirley Roeckers and her husband Richard of Garnett; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clarence and Irma Johnson of Garnett; his grandchildren, Adrian Gwin, Nathan Gwin, Chelsea Leinweber, Carlee Leinweber, and Kirstie Leinweber of Topeka; his great-granddaughter, Piper Leinweber of Topeka; and many nieces and nephews. Music was provided by Jeanine Zentner, organist, and Gary Stapp, vocalist. Musical selections included 'One Day At A Time', 'Amazing Grace', and 'I Can Only Imagine'. Casketbearers were Ron Anderegg, Glen Bodenhamer, Mike Burns, Earl Lizer, Dale Lybarger, and Al Ross.
