John R. Kirkland and his family from AL were in Anderson Co. KS. before the Civil War. His stay in Anderson Co. KS was brief. He removed to Lykins (Miami Co.) Co and to Franklin Co. Tho I have found that he was an early sheriff in Anderson Co. KS. He remarried Mrs. Elizabeth Plummer, perhaps in Anderson Co. Would appreciate any information on the Kirkland's while in Anderson Co.
