JOHN GRIFFIN
John GRIFFIN, farmer and stockman, of Kapioma Township, Atchison County, Kansas is a native of Kansas, having been born on the farm where he now lives March 25, 1882. His parents, Lawrence and Ellen Griffin lived on the farm in Kapioma Township. John Griffin was brought up on the farm and when a small boy divided his time between chores and school at District No. 60, Kapioma Township and later attended St. Benedict's College at Atchison, Kan. Considering the time spent in school, John started out in life remarkable early, making his first venture at the age of eighteen, renting a farm from his father. He continues to work the farm rented form his mother at the present time.
On October 15, 1912, John Griffin married Christena HANSON. Mrs. Griffin was born November 12, 1885, in Doniphan County, Kansas. Her parents, Nels and Christena (HENDERSON) Hanson, were natives of Denmark, who came to Doniphan County, Kansas about 1870, where they engaged in farming. The father died in 1892 at the age of fifty. The mother is living with her son, Crist Hanson, in Kapioma Township, Atchison County and is sixty-three years old. Mrs. Griffin attended the district schools in Doniphan County, Kansas. Mr. Griffin is a member of the Catholic Church and politically has affiliated himself with the Democratic Party. Mr. Griffin is a conscientious citizen and a hard worker.
