Carl George Klostermeier, 85, Topeka, formerly of Atchison, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 1992, at a Topeka nursing home.
Sevices will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Ziegler, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Topeka Lutheran School, Trinity Lutheran School, or St. Luke's Lutheran School.
Mr. Klostermeier was born Dec. 29, 1906, in Atchison, the son of Henry F. and Mary Weik Klostermeier Sr. He attended Trinity Lutheran Grade School and was a 1925 graduate of Atchison High School. He also attended St. John's College in Winfield and St. Benedict's College in Atchison.
After college, he was employed by the American Bank in Atchison. He had served as both deputy county and county clerk in Atchison.
Mr. Klostermeier served with the U.S. Air Force during World Was II. After his discharge from the service, he moved to Topeka where he was employed as a tax agent for the Santa Fe Railroad for 30 years, retiring in 1973.
He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran faith and a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Congregation in Topeka.
Mr. Klostermeier was voted honorary president of St. John's Lutheran Congregation on Dec 9, 1991. He had also served on may church committees throughout his life. He was an honorary member of the Kansas Association of Tax Representatives.
Additional survivors include two daughter, Carla Hardin, Blairsden, Calif., and Mary Washburn, Topeka; a grandson; three step-grandchildren; one stepgreat-grand daughter; one stepgreat-great-granddaughter; and three nephews.
