CLARK RITES FRIDAY



Mrs. Margaret Clark, 64, 1219 North Third Street, died last night at the

Atchison Hospital. She was a nurses' aide at the Atchison hospital and

Cray Senior Manor before retiring two years ago.



Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Stanton Chapel

with the Rev. Ronald MacLennan, pastor of St. Marks Lutheran Church

officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens. Members of the

family prefer that memorials be contributions to the American Cancer

Society.



Mrs. Clark, the former Margaret Matthias, was born June 23, 2909 at

Huron, a daughter of William and Annie Delfelder Matthias. She attended

Atchison County schools and was graduated from Atchison High School in

1927. She attended the Atchison Business College and worked as a

secretary for Harry Vanstrum at Blish, Mize & Silliman, Inc.



In 1932 she moved to Shannon with her family and they operated the

store, post office and grain elevator for several years. She and Harry

L. Clark were married July 13, 1935 by the Rev. William Wheeler, who

HARRY CLARK DIES; RITES ON SATURDAY



Harry L. Clark, 68, 1219 North Third Street, died yesterday at

Physicians and Surgeons Hospital in Shreveport, La. He had been

visiting his son and daughter in Shreveport since June.



Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Sawn-Dyer

Chapel with the Rev. Ronald MacLennan, pastor of St. Mark's Lutheran

Church, officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens with

graveside services conducted by Active Lodge 168 AF & AM.



Friends may call at the Stanton Mortuary after 9 a.m. Friday. Members

of the family will receive friends at the mortuary from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Friday.



Mr. Clark was born at Wallula in Leavenworth Coounty on September 13,

1905. The family later moved to the Good Intent community and as a boy

attended Star Rural School.



He was a farmer in the Lancaster and Shannon area for a number of years

and worked for the Atchison Specialty Company. Mr. Clark and the

Ralph R. Clutz, M. D.



Dr. Ralph R. Clutz, 78 who had practiced for 55 years, died at an Atchison hospital on November 30

(1955) after an extended illness. He was graduated from Kansas City Medical College in 1900 and

began practice in Bendena in 1902, remaining there until his illness. He had served two terms as

health officer for Doniphan County. Dr. Clutz was an honorary member of the Doniphan County

Medical Society.

Alive M. Chew, 74, Atchison, died Wednesday, March 15, 1995, at Medicalodge in Atchison.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Chew was a homemaker.

She was born Feb. 22, 1921, in Atchison, the daughter of Lloyd and Minnie Samples Bennett. She attended Atchison public schools and was a 1939 graduate of Atchison high School.

Mrs. Chew was a member of First Baptist Church and a former member of the church circle and Independence Farm Unit. She was also a former Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader. She enjoyed spending time with her children, artwork, flowers and playing cards.

She and Harry Chew were married on Feb. 22, 1942. He survives of the home. She was preceded in death by a son, Harry Chew, Jr.; a sister; and several brothers.

Additional survivors include a son, Alan Chew, Fresno, Calif.; a daughter, Mary Alice Whaley, Mariposa, Calif.; a brother, Wallace Bennett, St. Joseph, Mo.; a sister, Gladys Whitehead, Lawrence, Kan.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Harry Chew , 75, Atchison, died Friday, July 7, 1995 at the Atchison Hospital.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Jerry Bisping, director of Evangelism at Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with presentation of the flag by American Legion Post No. 6.

Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Chew was a second generation Atchison plumber, learning the trade from his father. He later owned and operated Chew Plumbing and Heating Company in Atchison for many years.

He was born May 25, 1920, in Atchison, the son of Harry and Elisa A. Kaaz Chew. He attended Atchison public schools.

Mr. Chew served in the Air Force in the European Theatre during World War II.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Atchison Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion, all of Atchison. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing and hunting and he was a member of a bowling league. He enjoyed watching baseball and football.

Mr. Chew and Alice Bennett were married Feb.22,1942, in Atchison.. She died March 15, 1995. He was also preceded in death by a son, Harry H. Chew, five brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include a son, Alan Chew, Fresno, Calif.; a daughter, Mary Alice Whalley, Mariposa, Calif.; a sister, Charlotte Berry, Atchison; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mary B. Chew, 74, Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Atchison, died Thursday, Aug. 15, 1996, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Mo.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Redmond, OSB, officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Mount St. Scholastica Academy.

Mrs. Chew worked for a short time as a secretary in the Atchison area.

She was born June 14, 1922, in Topeka, the daughter of Irving and Winifred Cross Botkin. She was a 1940 graduate of Mount St. Scholastica Academy and attended Atchison Business School. Mrs. Chew was a member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church, Atchison. She married Charles E. Chew of June 14, 1947, at Sacred Heart Church. He died Dec.1, 1979. She was also preceded in death by a sister. Survivors include two sons, Phil Chew, Atchison, and Charles Chew, Windsor, Colo.; two daughters, Theresa Smith, Aurora, Colo., and Melissa Brothers, Leavenworth; a brother, Bob Botkin, Texas; eight grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren.
