Mrs. Ernestina Schmelling, age 81, died at 4 o'clock this morning, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Jacobs, at Fifteenth and L Streets. She had lived with Mrs. Jacobs a long time, and had been sick since Christmas. Mrs. Schmelling was born at Birtzenhagen, Pommern, Germany, March 24, 1819. She was also the mother of Mrs. Julius Kaaz, of Atchison, and six other children, five of whom live a Superior, Neb., and one at Boone, Iowa. Mrs. Schmelling has been a resident of Atchison twenty-six years, and was highly esteemed by all who knew her. Her funeral will be announced tomorrow.

The funeral of the late Ernestina Schmeling will occur from the German Lutheran Church at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow. Burial at Mt. Vernon.
