Aaron L. Transue, age 66 years, died of heart disease this morning, at his home, 906 George Street, Branchton. He had been ailing several years. The deceased was the father of William Transue, a bricklayer. The funeral will occur for the house at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Rev. Youngman, of the M.E. Church, South, officiating.

George (Dutch) Transue, 77, 1326 14th Place, died this morning at the Veterans Administration Center at Leavenworth. He was a retired brick mason.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Stanton Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Chadbourn, pastor of the Carol Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
Fleming - Jackson - Seever American Legion Post No. 6 will conduct graveside services. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
Mr. Transue was born in Atchison May 3, 1898, a son of W. H. and Tessie Scott Transue, attending Atchison schools and was a lifelong resident. He began work as a brick mason when he was 13, played baseball on the Levin team and enlisted the Army during World War II.
Mr. Transue was a member of Bricklayers Local No. 18 and was a member of American Legion Post No. 6. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Orville R. (Patty) Turner, 2223 Millwood Drive; a son, Robert Smart, Boonville, Mo.; six sisters, Mrs. Pearl Keenan, Clearwater, Fla., Mrs. Anna Blomberg, 1413 Atchison Street, Mrs. Ernest (Catherine) Wilson, 711 King Street, Mrs. Cecil (Ada) Underwood and Mrs. Frank (Helen) Segal, both of Tokeland, Wash.,and Mrs. Jess (Ruth) Sapp, Clearlake Heights, Calif.; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. William H. Transue, 75, who died yesterday after an illness for three months, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Sawin & Douglas Chapel by the Rev. Vance Baird. The body is at the residence, 917 George Street, and will be taken to the mortuary tomorrow morning. Interment will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
Mrs. Transue, whose maiden name was Tessa Leona Scott, was born November 14, 1868, in Atchison County and was a daughter of Louis E. and Belle Scott. She spent all of her life here. Her father was a farmer and stone mason and the family lived south of Atchison many years.
October 8,1888, Tessa Leona Scott and William H. Transue were united in marriage in Atchison. Soon after they were married they purchased the present home in Branchton. Mr. Transue, who was a stone mason, was very skilled in his trade and helped to build many of the finest buildings in this locality. He died nine years ago.
Until her illness started a few months ago Mrs. Transue enjoyed unusually good health for her age. She was a greatly beloved woman and reared a large and splendid family. She was a good mother and a kind and charitable neighbor.
Mrs. Transue was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
Surviving are seven daughters, Mrs. Thomas Keenan, Mrs. William Blomberg, Mrs. Ernest Wilson, Mrs. Mary Lee Jackson, Mrs. Harry Eberly and Mrs. Cecil Underwood all of Atchison, and Miss Ruth Transue of Kansas City, Mo.; a son George Transue, Atchison; a sister Mrs. Walter Hunter of the Bean Lake vicinity; three brothers, Burton Allen Scott, William F. Scott, and L. Vega Scott, all of whom live in Wyoming; 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

W. H. Transue, well-known veteran bricklayer, died at 11:30 o'clock this morning at his home, 917 George Street. Death was attributed to complications of paralysis. Six years ago he suffered a first stroke and had been bedfast since the beginning of this year. He was 69 years old.
William H. Transue was born at Bethlehem, Pa., September 23, 1867. He was the son of Aaron L. and Anna Maria Transue. When he was 11 years old he moved with his parents to Atchison. He helped to build his parents' home on George Street in Branchton where he lived the remainder of his life. His father died here in 1902 and his mother February 25, 1920.
October 19, 1888, he was married to Miss Tessie Scott of Atchison. Nine children were born to them, all of whom are living with the exception of Fred. He was killed May 13, 1923, while working on the college building at Mount St. Scholastica.
Mr. Transue always followed the bricklayer trade and had gained a wide reputation for his work. He had been employed in the construction of most of the large buildings here and had worked on projects in several states. He was especially noted for the fireplaces he built and his services were much in demand.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son and seven daughters. His children are Mrs. Tom Keenan, Mrs. Everett Jackson, Mrs. William A Bloomberg, George Transue, Mrs. Ernest Wilson, Mrs. Harry Eberly and Mrs. Cecil Underwood, all of Atchison, and Miss Ruth Transue of Kansas City. Seventeen grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive.
Sawin & Douglass are in charge of the funeral arrangements and the service will be held from their chapel at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon. Six Atchison bricklayers with whom Mr. Transue worked for many years will act as pallbearers. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery.
The body will be taken to the Transue home at 917 George Street this evening to remain until time of the furneral services.
Mrs. Martha Tarrant Dies in Kansas City
Mrs. Martha Tarrant, 87 years of age, a resident of Atchison for more than 45 years prior to about 15 years ago, died last night at her home in Kansas City, Mo. She was the widow of Thomas Tarrant, for several years a street commissioner of Atchison. Death resulted from complications of diseases and came after Mrs. Tarrant had been bedfast for six years since she fell and broke one of her hips. The body will be brought to Atchison for burial tomorrow afternoon, arriving at 3:29 o'clock. It will be taken to Mt Vernon Cemetery in Harouff funeral equipment from the train and short services will be held at the grave. Pall bearers will be Bert Gilmore, Wallace Brockett. Louis Brockett and Frank Bowen, of Atchison and two men who will accompany the body form Kansas City.. Mrs Tarrant is survived by three daughters, Mrs. D.W. Ayres, 816 South Fifth street; Miss Stella Tarrant of Kansas City and Miss Mary Tarrant of Leslie, Arkansas; a son, Oliver Tarrant of Emporia; a brother George Hollenback, and four grandchildren. Mrs Ayres is in Kansas City, but will return to Atchison tomorrow afternoon.

Thomas D. Tarrant, who lived in Atchison for 40 years, died yesterday morning at Kansas City. Mr. Tarrant, who was 81 years of age, moved from Atchison to Kansas City several years ago. Mrs. D.W. Ayres, of Atchison, is his daughter. Mr. Tarrant lived at the corner of Sixth and T streets for years. He was a contractor; served as street commissioner and was also a member of the school board. He leaves a widow and the children living besides Mrs. Ayres are Mrs. Mary Wetherell (sic) of Gallatin, NM; Miss Stella Tarrant of Kansas City, and Oliver Tarrant, of Florence, Kas. The body will arrive in Atchison to-morrow on the Missouri Pacific at 3:30 o'clock. The funeral will start from the depot, and the burial will be at Mt Vernon.

Crash is Fatal to the Thadens

An Atchison couple was fatally injured, their three daughter hurt, one seriously and a Creston, Iowa, woman was hurt, when a motor car driven by Miss Rose Thaden of Atchison, and in which her parents and two sisters were riding, collided with another car driven by Mrs. Alice Howell on U. S. Highway 71. ----
John H. Thaden, 63, Atchison wall paper and paint dealer, died on the way to a Maryville hospital, as the result of internal injuries in the chest and abdominal regions.
Mrs. Barbara Louise Thaden 62, his wife, died in St. Francis Hospital, Maryville, about 30 minutes after the accident. Mrs. Thaden suffered a fractured skull and multiple internal injuries. ---
Atchison and St. Joseph relatives and the Rev. F. W. C. Jesse, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, went to Maryville as soon as they had been advised of the accident.
The bodies of Mr. and Mrs. Thaden were brought to Atchison from Maryville early this morning and are at the Sawin & Douglas Parlors. Definite funeral arrangements had not been made this afternoon.
John Henry Thaden was prominently associated with the painting and decoration field in a national way and had been one to the outstanding members of the Trinity Lutheran Church, and a zealous worker in that church. He was born north of old Geary City in Doniphan County May 4, 1863. He came to Atchison when a small boy with his widowed mother and at the age of 14 years started to learn his trade under E. M. Meinhart, who was then located 118-122 South Fourth Street. He later bought into the firm, which then became known as E. M. Meinhart & Co. and finally in 1907 bought out the business.
For two years, 1923 and 1924, Mr. Thaden was president of the Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma Council of the International Society of Master Painters and Decorators and since the expiration of his second term had been their representative to the national body as a member of the executive board.
He had been both a trustee and deacon in the Trinity Lutheran Church.
Mr. Thaden was the last surviving member of his family. One brother and one sister are both dead.
Mrs. Thaden before her marriage was Barbara Louise Scheibe. She was born in Atchison, October 3, 1869, and had spent her whole life here. She was married to Mr. Thaden May 23, 1894. Mrs. Thaden's brother, the Rev. C. E. Scheibe, performed the ceremony.
Mrs. Thaden is survived be two brothers, Gustav Scheibe. Effingham; and the Rev. C. E. Scheibe, retired minister of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church, who is living at New Orleans; and one sister, Miss Mary Scheibe, Osawatomie.
In addition to the three daughters injured in the fatal crash, Miss Rose Thaden, Miss Florence Thaden, and Miss Louise Thaden, Mr. and Mrs. Thaden are survived by four other daughters, Mrs. William A. Seeber, St. Joseph; and Mrs. Frieda Kaaz, Mrs. Henry Kaaz and Mrs. Alfred Ostergard, all of Atchison; and by seven grandchildren.

Mrs. Anna Transue Dead
A stroke of paralysis, suffered last night caused the death at 9:30 o'clock this morning of Mrs. Anna transue, one of the old settlers of the Branchton District. Mrs. Transue was 79 years of age at the time of her death. She had been sick following a paralytic stroke four years ago, but not until Sunday, when the second stroke occurred, did her condition become critical. She was unconscious practically all the time from Sunday night, until she passed away this morning.
Respected by a host of neighbors and friends in Atchison and vicinity, and loved and revered by her son, grandchildren and great grandchildren, the death of Mrs. Transue is deeply felt by all whom knew her.
The funeral service will be held at the Stanton Funeral Home Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. R. L. Patterson conducting the services. Interment will be in Mt. Vernon cemetery in the family lot, where Mr. Aaron L. Transue was buried.
