The Mussen-Solf damage case resulted in a verdict for the defendant. In this case Chas. Mussen sued Albert and John Solf for damages growing out of the assault case in Sharon township last winter. The Solfs attacked Mussen on the road and in the scuffle Mussen's team got away and ruined the buggy and committed other damages. The Solf boys were arrested and pleaded guilty to assault and were fined. Mussen then brought suit for damages. They could not get service on Albert, however, and he appeared to be the principal offender. The jury on the first ballot stood seven for the plaintiff and five for the defendant but it appears that the defendant's backers were the best stayers and the loudest talkers. G. M. Martin and Sam Griffin represented the plaintiff and Noble & Tincher represented Solf. The following jury sat in the case:

S. S. Caldwell and C. H. McManus vs. Green County Cattle Company, verdict for plaintiff in the sum of $246. The plaintiffs sued for damages done to a crop of corn, by the defendants' cattle in Reno county last year. E. S. Vanarsdale is the agent for the Green Cattle Company and he is holding a bunch of cattle at Eldred, where the plaintiffs get service on him. This accounts for the trial of the case here. C. M. Williams, of Hutchinson, was the plaintiff's attorney and Noble & Tincher represented the defense. The following composed the jury in the case:

A. R. Stone vs. E. E. E. Sullivan, verdict for defendant. Mr. Stone is a resident of Woods county and Mr. Sullivan lives in Barber county. The suit was brought on a promissory note but Sullivan claimed the note had been paid in the form of a due bill which was lifted after it had been claimed that the note was lost. E. Sample and H. A. Noah, of Alva, appeared for Stone. G. M. Martin handled Sullivan's end of the case. The jury, by mutual consent, was composed of eleven men, as follows:

Monday and yesterday was taken up with court matters. The McElwain-Roth land case and the Hoy divorce case were the principal ones. The latter will probably be compromised. Court will adjourn today.
