A feeling of sorrow and anxiety was turned to joy and relief in a Medicine Lodge home Saturday when it was announced that Pvt. Joseph C. Wells, Medicine Lodge, who has been missing in action in France since August 28, had rejoined his outfit. He is the husband of the former Olive Mae Ryan.In the letter announcing that Pvt. Wells was missing, the war department said that they would communicate with the family as soon as additional news was received that the wire was received Saturday. No details were given accept to say that they were happy to announce that Pvt. Wells had rejoined his company on September 3.
Pvt. Wells has been in the service more than three years, going in from Medicine Lodge. He went to England in January, 1944, and was sent to France among the first companies who participated in D-Day. He was a member of a tank battalion.
The last letter received from him came on August 23 and it was written from somewhere in France.
Mrs. Wells' home is in Medicine Lodge but she is now employed in Norman, Oklahoma.
