Trustee Wm. G_sner, of Kiowa, was in the city last Thursday to arrange with the county authorities to take charge of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Herd of that city who are insane and helpless. The sheriff, probate judge and county attorney went to Kiowa that night and on Friday both were adjudged insane and will be taken to the asylum as soon as permission can be obtained.Mrs. Herd's mind has been in a bad condition for several years, but Mr. Herd's derangement began only a few months ago when he was taken with paralysis. Their daughter, Miss Dora, has been caring for them a long while without assistance rather than inform the public of their condition but last week they became so much worse that she was compelled to call for assistance. Mr. Herd is almost helpless but Mrs. Herd requires two attendants constantly. She is violent at times.
The Kiowa authorities are keeping them until they can be taken to the asylum.
