Mrs. C. M. McCune died at Geuda Springs on Monday at 11:30 A. M., November 25th. She went to Geuda Springs early in October to take treatment for what was supposed to be sciatic rheumatism and her real aliment was not discovered until last Thursday when a message came to her husband stating that the disease proved to be an affection of the thigh and hip bones, and that her recovery was impossible. Mr. McCune hurried to her bedside that evening and remained with her until she passed away. Her death was directly due to a breaking of the hip bone which was decayed and honey-combed by the disease.The body was taken to Glennville, Nebraska, her former home where her mother and sister reside, where the funeral was held.
Mrs. McCune was a very estimable lady. During her several years of residence in Medicine Lodge she made many friendships and her death in the midst of rich promises for the future is indeed sad. Her friends are deeply touched by her taking away, especially when it is recalled that up to a short time before going away for treatment she appeared to be in perfect health, a lady of apparently splendid physique.
She was a lady of fine clerical ability, and during her residence in Medicine Lodge was saleslady in J. C. Richardson's store and clerk in the post office, resigning the latter position in August to accept the appointment of clerk of the Local Registration Board.
In every capacity in which she has served she was a conscientious, careful assistant and was accorded the high praise of her employers.
The stricken husband has the earnest sympathy of the friends of this community in the sudden misfortune which has been visited upon him.
