Neighbors, however, on learning of the death, secured help. In the meantime, those of the family best able to do so, left their beds to minister to their father and grandfather in his last moments. He passed away peacefully and without apparent suffering.Grandfather Chance is another of Barber county's pioneers called to his celestial reward. On account of the sickness in the home, The Index is unable to procure data of his long life but hopes to do so in a future number. He was 86 years of age and has lived these many years a model, upright citizen who enjoyed the complete confidence and esteem of his fellowmen. His good wife preceded him in death about two years ago. He is survived by a son and a daughter and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
