Esther Mae Moore
Esther Mae Moore, 82, died January 15, 2007 at Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital, Medicine Lodge. She was born June 23, 1924 at Belvidere, Kansas, the daughter of Dale and Bessie Jewell (Smith) Funk.
A lifetime resident of Medicine Lodge, she was a homemaker and worked at Brooke-Spencer Dept. Store in Medicine Lodge for 20 years. She graduated from Medicine Lodge High School in 1941. She was a member of First Christian Church, Mothers Club and Women’s Outreach, all in Medicine Lodge.
On July 5, 1942 she married Ernest "Ernie" L. Moore at Joplin, Missouri. He died February 5, 2003.
Survivors include a son Larry and his wife Phyllis, Harper, Kansas; two daughters Connie Schurle and her husband Kenneth, Green, Kansas and Bonnie Dafforn, Medicine Lodge; two sisters Ella Bell, Medicine Lodge and Fern Bell, Cunningham, Kansas; 6 grandchildren, Laura Cardone, Jeff Dafforn, Gina Taddiken, Jenny Howard, Craig Schurle, and Steve Schurle, and 8 great grandchildren, Anna, Kate, Keagen, Ethan, Jacob, John, Gene, and Chris, two special nieces, Aleen Bell and the late Rita Kimball, and many nephews.
Funeral service was on Friday, January 19, 2007 at First Christian Church, Medicine Lodge with Pastor Tom Walters presiding. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.
