Death came quietly to Mrs. Fannie Brown just before noon in Christmas day, as she sat in her chair at the home of Mrs. C. E. Murphy where she has been cared for the past few weeks. Mrs. Brown has been in failing health for the past year. She was 92 years, 11 months and 5 days old at the time of her death. In spite of poor health and advancing age she retained her interest in her friends and delighted in having them call to see her. A life-long member of the Christian church, she gave her support to its work, and loved and cherished its interests until her death. Her only surviving relative is a niece, Mrs. Glenn E. Powell of Springfield, Ohio, who came Monday to be present for the funeral.Frances Eldridge Crook was born in Franklin county, Virginia, on January 20, 1846. The family moved to Indiana in 1870, and on September 1, 1871, she was united in marriage to John W. Brown who preceded her in death December 30, 1919. Her parents died when she was seven years old, and four brothers also preceded her in death. Mr. and Mrs. Brown came to Medicine Lodge in 1884 to make their home and with the exception of a few years, Mrs. Brown has resided here since that time. Realizing that she had not long to live, Mrs. Brown herself made arrangements for her funeral service, selecting the Scripture and music which she wished used. Her pastor, Rev. R. C. Scott, conducted the service from the Christian church Tuesday afternoon, December 27th, and interment was made in Highland cemetery.
