Frederic Donald Wieland, 88, died Aug. 26, 1997, at Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital.He was born Feb. 22, 1909, at Wichita, the son of Frederic G. and Retta Monroe Wieland. He attended Missouri Military Academy and graduated from Wichita State University in 1934. A Medicine Lodge resident since 1947, moving from Alva, Okla.
He was a banker at Sharon Valley State Bank. He had worked for Allison-Chalmers, was associated with a Pontiac-GMC dealership, was office manager at Medicine Lodge Sale Co. and sold Moorman Cattle Feed.
He belonged to the United Methodist Church, Medicine Lodge, where he held several offices. He was a member of Masonic Lodge, Medicine Lodge, Midian Shrine Temple and Scottish Rite, Wichita Consistory, Barber County Shrine Club and was a DeMolay Advisor and Rainbow Dad. On Nov. 28, 1937, he married Fern Mildred Worden at Wichita. She died in 1974.
Survivors include: a companion, Norma Jean Fincher, Medicine Lodge; three sons, John F., Broken Arrow, Okla., Curtis M., Buffalo, Okla., and Kent W., Rockford, Ill.; a sister, Freda Biddle, Ketchum, Idaho; two grandsons; and a great-granddaughter.
Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 29, 1997, at the church, with the Rev. Jim Godbey presiding. Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge.
