Harold Behrendt, 84, of Burden, Kansas, formerly of Derby, died Feb. 3, 2007, at the William Newton Hospital in Winfield, Kansas.Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Highland Cemetery in Medicine Lodge, Kansas.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Hawks Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Wellington.

Behrendt was born May 17, 1922, to Edgar W.H. and Adele M. (Simon) Behrendt, in San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from high school in San Antonio.
He and Jessie McCracken married on Aug. 18, 1945, in Wichita.
Behrendt served his country in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He worked for the Civil Service Administration for 23 years as a contract administrator. He also farmed and ranched for many years near Rock.
Known to be inventive and enjoyed history, he enjoyed tinkering with tools and fixing things.
His wife, Jessie, died on March 14, 2000.
Surviving to honor his memory are his sons, Michael A. Behrendt, Wichita, and Steve Behrendt, Burden; a daughter, Debra Jean Newsome, Davis, Okla.; a brother, Vernon A. Behrendt, San Antonio; two sisters, Pearl Horsley, San Antonio, and Betty Molter, Sequin, Texas; and three grandchildren: Lacei Hernandez, Conni Newsome and Fawna Mathias.

His obituary in The Winfield Courier incorrectly stated that he had six grandchildren and also incorrectly spelled his wife's maiden name as McCraken.
