Irene Louise Benton, 80, passed away at Hospice House on Monday, May 22, 2006.

Irene was born on June 25, 1925 in Medicine Lodge, Kansas, to Harry and Ezma (Urton) Kinkaid. She graduated from Medicine Lodge High School in 1943. She was a bookkeeper in the Ford County Treasurer’s Office for 27 years and retired in 1999. She then moved from Dodge City to Hutchinson.

On February 16, 1946, she married Archie Benton in Iuka, Kansas. He passed away December 16, 1971. She is survived by a daughter Linda Burkhart, Hutchinson; four grandchildren, Shawn Benton, Keith Kubin, Angie Wright and Nikki Burkhart and three great-grandchildren, Zayne Dalton, Larrissa and Emily Wright.

Graveside services were held on Wednesday, May 24, 2006 in Stafford Cemetery, Stafford, Kansas.

Memorials may be given to Hospice House in care of the funeral home. Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home & Crematory, 300 E. 30th Avenue, Hutchinson, Kansas 67502, was in charge of arrangements.
