James Edward FARLEY DIED THURSDAY

J. E. Farley, long time resident of Medicine Lodge and Barber county, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Arvilla Garten, last Thursday, after having been in ill health for some time. Funeral services were held at the Forsyth Funeral Home on Saturday, February 4th., at two p.m., conducted by the Rev. F. H. Hayward, and interment was in Highland cemetery.

James Edward Farley was born February 18th, 1863 in the state of Illinois and passed from this life February 2nd, 1939 at his home in Medicine Lodge at the age of 75 years, 11 months and 16 days. At an early age Mr. Farley moved to Iowa with his parents where he spent his childhood and early manhood. As a young man he came to Kansas, living for a time in Stanton county. In 1800 he moved to Barber county and has resided here since that time. On February 14th, 1891 he was united in marriage to Barbara Suhler. To this union three children were born, one child, Mary Farley died at the age of seven. He leaves behind his wife, two children; Mrs. Arvilla Garten of Medicine Lodge and Mr. Albert Farley of Hardtner, and three grandchildren and many friends.
