JAMES MARTIN HALL OBITUARY

James Martin Hall, son of Sophia Davis and James S. Hall, was born near Manitou, Ill., Nov. 15, 1861. His father was a Methodist minister. His only memory of his mother was of her telling Bible stories to her 5 children. At the age of 4 years he was left an orphan and was raised in the home of Daniel McCoy a kindly neighbor who lived near Brimfield, Ill. He lived as one of the McCoy family until he moved to Rice County, Kansas and settled on a farm in 1883. Here he met Florence G. Stone whom he married August 12, 1891. To this union four sons were born, Harold, Daniel, Martin and Floyd. Harold passed on June 9th, 1911 and Daniel June 16th, 1920. In 1901 Mr. Hall moved his family to Barber county from Nashville where he had lived since 1904, and has resided at his present home since that time.

Mr. Hall became an elder in the Nashville Presbyterian church in 1903 and was made an elder in the Medicine Lodge church in 1904, where he has served for 32 years. He passed from life March 4th, 1936 at the age of 74 years. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Martin and Floyd and two grandchildren, Mary Alice and James Martin III and one niece, Mrs. John Ontjes.
