J. B. Vaughn

J.B. Vaughn died on Saturday night October 3, 1903, at 11 o'clock p.m. aged 73 years, 1 month and 2 days. He was bedfast about two months and was ailing several years. Kidney, bladder and stomach diseases all entered into his affliction.

Funeral services were held at the family residence on Monday afternoon and the remains interred in Highland cemetery. The services were conducted by Elder Walker of the Christian church. Mr. Vaughn was one of Barber County's earliest settlers. He came to the county in 1878 and has lived in or near the city ever since. He is survived by six children and a second wife. His first wife died about twelve years ago. The surviving children are Mrs. W. D. Springer of this county, Mrs. Laura Finney and Mrs. Belle Murphy of Kansas City, Mrs. Carpenter of Lamar, Colorado, and John and Thomas Vaughn also of Colorado. Of these, Mrs. Springer, Mrs. Finney and John Vaughn attended the funeral.
