John Calvin McKay, the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Levi McKay, died at Camp Funston, Friday, October 25, 1918, a victim of influenza. He had been treated for lung trouble sometime before going to Camp Funston and as yet his lungs were not in good condition so when he was taken with the disease it went directly to them.

The deceased was 22 years and 3 months of age.

Rev. Stauffer conducted a short service at the home and then the State Guards took charge. Owing to the lack of arms the Guards could not conduct their services as they should have but under the conditions they did well.

In his death we lose another of our noble boys that had gone at Uncle Sam's call, but he has gone to join his baby brother, who preceded him in death a week ago.
