"This is the old farm house that John and Sarah Young had which was passed down to Pearl Hart and then to her son, Edward Hart. A mining company bought the land and the house was bulldozed." - Sandra Pugh."The house was about 2 miles west and a little south of where Uncle Ray (Massey) used to live - up the Elk Creek canyon. It would be almost directly west of Sun probably 5 to 6 miles. The older Youngs moved to Sun in the 30's into the house east of Aunt Bird's (Ella Bird Van Horn Lott). Ed Hart eventually moved into the Elk Creek home. We never heard anything but good things about the Youngs, but really didn't know them that well." -- Nate Massey.

"John and Sarah Ellen (Wygle) Young were my great grandparents. Their daughter Pearl Sylma (Young) Hart was my mother's mother. My mother was Lena E. Hart, the baby of the family.
I think the Young and then Hart farm was almost directly west, but didn't realize it was that far west of Sun City. As a child distance doesn't mean much. All I can remember is going into this field through one of those cattle gates and going south, and then through another gate and then dropping over the rim of a hill and down into the canyon to the house. I was always amazed that the car could go up and down that steep a hill and not roll over. I didn't know the creek was called Elk creek. It was very shallow and a lot of fun to play in.
A short story about John & Sarah Young is that she was married to his uncle (Thomas) first , but he died within the first year or two of the marriage. He was kicked in the head by a horse and died in Sarah's arms. Then a few years later she married John and they only had Pearl. I think someone said they lost a couple of kids, but Pearl was the only one to survive childhood. But Sarah had a boy (Allen Allison) before she was married. He was not raised by her, but have never heard the story why." -- Sandra Pugh
