Leondis J. Redwine

Lt. Col. Leondis J. Redwine, U.S. Air Force Retired, died Nov. 29, 2006, at the age of 90. He was born Oct. 31, 1916, in Lake City.

Leon joined the Army Air Corps, which later beame the U.S. Air Force, in 1940. He served his country through World War II and the Korean War and retired in 1961.

In 1962 he joined the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a special agent, investigating waste, fraud and abuse in governmental programs. He retired in 1982.

Survivors include: two sisters, Irene Shaw, Pratt, and Erma Potter, Galena; a brother, M.C., Siloam Springs, Ark.; two daughters, Dixie Gay Redwine, New Braunfels, Texas, and Loretta Redwine Robertson, Austin, Texas; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

A graveside service was held at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas, on Dec. 7.
