Lorene Confer, a resident of Holiday Island, AR, was born July 10, 1924 in Sedan, Kansas, a daughter of Delmar Lee "Cap" and Nellie (Johnson) Fowler. She departed this life Wednesday, December 12, 2007 in Springdale, AR, at the age of 83.Mrs. Confer attended school in Medicine Lodge, graduating from Medicine Lodge High School in 1942. She was the head bookkeeper for Midas Muffler and Ginger’s Ladies Wear, both located in Wichita, Kansas, for many years, and also enjoyed reading and gardening.
On October 23, 1948, Lorene was united in marriage with Paul Confer. He survives. She is also survived by one sister, Nadine and husband Herman Westmeyer of Chanute, KS, two daughters-in-law, Arline Confer of Holiday Island and Adrease Confer of Wichita, KS, four grandchildren; David Confer and wife Debbie of Flower Mound, TX, Michael Confer and wife Teresa of Overland Park, KS, Cindy and husband Michael Coldiron of Wichita, KS, and Diane and husband Larry Dixon of Anderson, SC; nine great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Louis Fowler and Delmar Fowler, Jr., and two step-sons; Bill Confer and David Confer.
Memorial service was at Holiday Island Community Church on January 5. Condolences may be sent to Lorene’s husband at his current home: Paul Confer, Wichita, Kansas.
