Mabel Olive Snyder, age 99, died Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at Hilltop Manor, Cunningham. She was born September 22, 1907 on a farm near Hardtner, Kansas, the daughter of the late Frank Otis and Margaret Elizabeth (Hart) Snyder. In 1912 she attended Hackberry School which was built by her father and their neighbors. She graduated from Hackberry’s New Standard School in 1921, and from Hardtner High School in 1925. She attended Emporia State College and received a 3 year state teaching certificate, and later received a life certificate.She taught at Aetna and in Comanche County at Coldwater. While teaching at Coldwater, she earned a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education from Northwestern State, Alva. She retired in 1973. She was a member of the Untied Methodist Church, Medicine Lodge, Garden Club, Golden Age Club, A.A.W.W., and the Retired Teachers Association, and Delta Kappa Gamma.
She is survived by a sister Eleanor Mae Shriner, Medicine Lodge, and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Bethel, Alfred, Wilbur and Earl Snyder, and 5 sisters, Leora, Merl, and Inez Snyder, Eva Rogers and Agnes Spurgeon.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 27 at United Methodist Church, Medicine Lodge with Pastor Frank DeFisher officiating. Burial was in Hardtner Cemetery, Hardtner.
Memorials may be made to Hilltop Manor, Alzehimers, or South Central Special Education Co-op in care of the Funeral Home. Personal condolences may be left for the family at www.larrisonmortuary.com.
