Medicine Lodge lost another long time resident on Friday when Miss Margaret Jane Benefiel died at the Achenbach Memorial Hospital in Hardtner where she had been in failing health for some time. Miss Benefiel was 80 years of age at the time of her death.Funeral services were conducted at the Forsyth Funeral Home Monday morning by Rev. L. H. McCormick, pastor of the Presbyterian church. Interment was in Highland cemetery.
Miss Benefiel was born in Boone county, Indiana, near Thornton, July 19, 1864. She was the youngest of three children born to Wm. H. and Amanda Jane Benefiel.
When she was six years old she came with the family to Linn county, Mo., and in 1903 moved to Medicine Lodge. When a young girl she united with the Bethel Presbyterian church. Later she transferred her membership to the First Presbyterian Church in Medicine Lodge where she was a faithful member, always attending every service when possible.
She is survived by a sister, Mrs. A. F. Thomas of Richmond, Kansas. three nieces, four nephews and their families and a host of friends, many of whom affectionately called her Aunt Margaret.
