Mildred Jane (Griffin) Jones, 98, died June 4, 1999, at her home in Hutchinson.She was born Nov. 27, 1900, near Valley Falls, the daughter of Walter A. and Henrietta Hilty, Griffin. She graduated from Kiowa High School and Salt City Business College. A Hutchinson resident since 1919, she had worked for Majic Laundry, Kyte Grocery, Rohner Furniture, the Friendship House Gift Shop and Robert G. Jones Trucking.
She attended Hadley United Methodist Church.
On March 13, 1921, she married Wade H. Jones at Kiowa. He died Oct. 26, 1932.
Survivors include: a son, Robert G., Hutchinson; a daughter, Henrietta L. Jones, Hutchinson; a brother, Allen Griffin, Kiowa; three grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, John Griffin; and a sister, Dr. Freda G. Cornelson.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 8, 1999, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Rev. Lynn Sifrit presiding. Burial was in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.
Memorials may be sent to the Salvation Army or to Hospice of Reno County, both in care of the mortuary.
