Mitchell, the 5 year old son of Newton Martin and wife of Forest City, died on Thursday, January 28, 1909, of membranous croup. The little one had been sick only a short time. The funeral was held at the home on Friday, conducted by Rev. J. H. Shamberger and the precious little form was laid away in Lake City cemetery. Mitchell was a bright, sweet little boy, a comfort and joy to his parents and a favorite in the neighborhood. That he should have been taken away so soon is another of the unfathomable mysteries of life, but in their great sorrow there comes the consoling thought to the parents that their little one is secure in the haven of rest where sickness and pain enter not and his eternal happiness is assured.
