Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon for Mrs. Stella Youmans, resident of this community 55 years and well-known church worker, who died at her home here, March 31 at the age of 78 years, 3 months and 15 days.Mrs. Youmans, whose maiden name was Stella Stevens, was born near Chili, Ill., December 16, 1863.
Mrs. Youmans became a member of the Presbyterian Church here in January, 1896, and was believed to have been the oldest member of that church living here. She was quite talented as a musician and contributed of her talents freely to her church and Sunday school ever since she became a member.
With her parents she moved to a farm near Pleasant Hill, Mo., in 1866, later moving to Harrisonville where they lived until June, 1886, her father having been sheriff. Then they moved to this community. She received her education in the public school of Harrisonville.
She was married to Eugene Youmans, October 15, 1890, who preceded her in death, March 21, 1911. To this union was born one daughter, Eugenia, now Mrs. B. Y. Edelen, Warrensburg, Mo., who with her son, Eugene, and husband were here for the funeral.
Mrs. Youmans was the eighth of nine children, three of whom survive: Mrs. Leila Wilson, of Alva, Okla., who was also here for the funeral; Mrs. Myra S. Jones, and Mrs. Hattie S. Shannon, both of Los Angeles.

"The 1900 federal census for Barber Co., Kansas shows the month of birth of Stella Youmans as October 1862. The 1930 federal census for Barber Co., Kansas shows that her father was born in Missouri and her mother born in Pennsylvania. The 1930 census shows her age as 63. The Barber County Index was published in Medicine Lodge, Kansas, where Stella Stevens' obituary states she died. If she was buried at Medicine Lodge, it was probably at the Highland Cemetery.
