Death of Thomas F Costello

Thomas F. Costello, engineer on the day run, between Attica and Belvidere, died very suddenly at his home in this city Sunday morning. He had arisen that morning and made the trip to the post office for his mail. Arriving at home, he sat down to read. A short time afterward he was asked to come into another room and replied that he would do so "in a minute." He did not come, and members of the family thought they heard a groan. Looking into the room where he sat, he was seen to topple over. Dr. Jordan was hurriedly called, but Mr. Costello was dead before help could reach him The cause of death was heart trouble.

Mr. Costello has lived in this city for several years. Being an old employee of the Santa Fe, he was entitled to almost his own choice of "runs" and the day run is considered a good one, with no night work and all day Sunday at home.

The body was taken to Wichita for interment last night, and will be laid to rest with the rites of the Catholic church, of which deceased was a member.

Mr. Costello was born in Wooster, Ohio, December 25, 1849, and was at the time of his death 68 years of age. In 1871 he was married to Miss Elizabeth Powell, in Cleveland, Ohio, and to this union four children were born: Mrs. J. C. Wright and Thomas F. Costello Jr., who preceded him in death; and Mrs. C.P. O'Dowd of Newton, and J. C. Costello of San Francisco, Calif., who survive him.

The family have the sincere sympathy of many friends in this city.
