Jones - Sheets
James Sheets and Miss Gladys Jones surprised their many friends and their relatives also by being quietly
married Monday evening of last week. No one here except the two families knew of the marriage until they
arrived home Tuesday morning of this week.
Mr. Sheets had gone to Mound City to manage his brother's drug store while the latter visited his parents
here and attended the state examination of pharmacists at Topeka.
Miss Jones had gone to Kansas City to
study the styles in millinery and had trimmed only a few days at Smithville, Mo. The two young people
decided that "now is the accepted time" and, Mr. Sheets could not leave the drug store, Miss Jones went to
Mound City and the ceremony was performed. They took possession of his brother's house and got much
experience in housekeeping before the latter's return.
Mrs Sheets is a lovely young lady and has always
been a favorite in social affairs wherever she has been. She has lived almost all her life in Strong City and
Cottonwood Falls and she is universally loved and respected.
Mr. Sheets came here with his brother and his
parents a little over a year ago and has been employed in the former's drug store. Everybody likes Jim
Sheets and he has the manly qualities which warrant universal confidence and esteem. Mr. Sheets has
rented Mrs. Geo. George's house, south of Will Woodring's, and they will have it furnished and begin
housekeeping next week. The News extends most hearty congratulations.
