THE BAZAAR HOBBY CLUB
The Bazaar Hobby Club was started in 1947
with the interest of the children of the community
in mind. It continued until 1965 when the Bazaar
school was discontinued. An annual show was held
so that the parents could view the children's achievements.
In 1961 the adults were invited to participate with emphasis on the display of antiques
because of Kansas Centennial year. This annual
show was first known as the Bazaar Hobby Show,
and later as The Flint Hills Arts and Crafts Fair.
In 1970 the show was held at Elmdale and in 1971
in the Commons Area of the Chase County High
School.
Mrs. George T. Dawson was general chairman
in 1970-71. The event has become one of the leading tourist attractions in the area.
